The talented voices of Ana Uršula Najev, Max Hozić, Mario Huljev, Elena Stella, Sabrina Hebiri, Ana Opačak and Helena Gudelj will offer their unique interpretations, breathing new life into old favorites.
Following their remarkable performance at Peristil last year, where they paid tribute to Dino Dvornik, HRT's Jazz Orchestra and Miron Hauser will perform covers of hit songs by Vice Vukov, Kićo Slabinac, Oliver Dragojević, Josipa Lisac, Tereza Kesovija, Jasna Zlokić, Tomislav Ivčić, Zorica Kondža, Seid Memić Vajta and Mia Dimšić this year at Prokurative.
"The selection of fifteen compositions for this evening was a challenging task. With Miron's assistance, I carefully searched, listened and picked the compositions, as well as the performers. We have chosen excellent vocalists who will infuse new life into these well-known songs with their interpretations. The HRT Jazz Orchestra and Miron Hauser will delight even the most discerning ears with their swing covers. I am confident that this evening will be equally enjoyable for both young and old, as a good song has no expiry date and is always excellent, no matter how it is interpreted," said Stevo Vučković Stivi, the organizer and artistic director of Split Festival 2023.
Miron Hauser has been a permanent member of the HRT Jazz Orchestra for over ten years and has served as its artistic director and conductor since 2019. He graduated with a degree in jazz trombone from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where he studied under Ed Neumeister, after which he earned a master's degree at the Trieste Conservatory of Music 'Giuseppe Tartini'. For five years, he was a permanent member of the renowned Croatian pop band Jinx and he collaborated with several other Croatian pop artists, including Oliver Dragojević, Nina Badrić, Natali Dizdar, Darko Rundek, Marko Tolja and Gibonni. He is a member of the jazz sextet B's Funstallation and one of the founders and initiators of the Jazzistra Orchestra. As a Latin music enthusiast, he was a member of the Slovenian-Cuban band Los Señores and an occasional guest of the Croatian band Cubismo. Miron received the Status award from the Croatian Music Union for the best jazz trombonist in 2015.
"When Stivi approached me with the idea of a retrospective evening featuring our jazz orchestra's arrangements, I was thrilled. I immediately recalled all the amazing songs and evergreens that were created at Split Festivals, some of which didn't even win awards. Since I'm a big fan of Oliver, the first song that came to my mind was his composition Picaferaj, which he performed back in 1967. Then came the most difficult part, selecting fifteen compositions from a plethora of fantastic songs. But I believe we succeeded and that the audience will enjoy it. I'm thrilled and delighted and can't wait for the performance at Prokurative," said Miron Hauser.
